Needle system
HLx5; Schmetz 130/705H may also be used under normal sewing conditions (p. 20). Buy this system; a familiar size number alone does not make a needle fit.

Size by fabric
Light fabrics → HLx5 #9–#11 (65/9–75/11); Medium fabrics → HLx5 #11–#14 (75/11–90/14); Heavy denim → HLx5 #14–#18 (90/14–110/18); Heavy jersey → HLx5 #11–#16 (75/11–100/16) (p. 20).

Fitting the needle
With the flat side of the needle to the right, insert it as far as possible and tighten the needle screw. (p. 11).
