   Needle system

   HAx1 (p. 16). Buy this system; a familiar size number alone does not make a needle fit.

   Size by fabric

   Lightweight fabrics → 65/9–75/11; Medium fabrics → 75/11–90/14; Heavy fabrics → 90/14–100/16, with 110/18 listed for heavier/topstitching use; Stretch, fine and synthetic fabrics → the blue-tip/ball-point options in the official chart (p. 16-17).

   Fitting the needle

   With the flat side of the needle toward the rear, push the needle against the stopper pin and tighten the clamp screw. (p. 16).
