Brother XM2701: which needle?

   Needle system

   Home sewing machine needles (no system code printed) (p. 24). Buy this system; a familiar size number alone does not make a needle fit.

   Size by fabric

   Medium weight fabrics (broadcloth, taffeta, flannel, gabardine) → 75/11–90/14; Thin fabrics (lawn, georgette, challis, satin) → 65/9–75/11; Thick fabrics (denim, corduroy, tweed) → 90/14–100/16 (100/16 with #30 thread); Stretch fabrics (jersey, tricot) → Ball point needle (gold colored) 75/11–90/14; Easily frayed fabrics → 65/9–90/14; Transparent nylon thread → 90/14 to 100/16, regardless of fabric or thread (p. 24).

   Fitting the needle

   With the flat side of the needle toward the back of the machine, insert the needle until it touches the needle stopper, then tighten the needle clamp with an oval screwdriver. (p. 8).

   Twin needle

   Twin needle (2.0/75 needle), part code X57521-021 (optional accessory); stitch width not set above "2.5"; foot J. Use only twin needles made for this machine (X57521-021: 2.0/75 with a 2 mm width). Thread twin needle by hand; do not use needle threader (p. 27-28).

   Needle threader can be used with 75/11 through 100/16 home sewing machine needles, not with 65/9 (models with threader).
