What the manual says

Singer HD 4432 Instruction Manual (English), checked October 20, 2026.

  1. 1

    Lightweight fabric

Use 70–80 (9–11) for fine cotton, voile, silk, muslin, interlock, tricot, jersey, crepe and chiffon.

  2. 2

    Medium fabric

Use 80–90 (11–14) for quilting cotton, satin, double knit, lightweight wool, rayon and lightweight linen. The chart also names size 90 for firm woven and terrycloth.

  3. 3

    Heavy fabric

Use 100 (16) for canvas, wool, denim, home decor, fleece and heavy knit. Size 110 (18) is listed for coat-weight wool and upholstery fabrics.

  4. 4

    Insert the needle

Push the new needle upward into the clamp with the flat side away from you. Stop if the needle is bent or the machine resists; sizing advice does not replace setup checks.

  5. 5

    Twin needle boundary

For twin-needle stitching, set the needle position to centre. The built-in threader cannot be used for twin needles, so thread it by hand and keep the stitch settings within the manual.

  6. 6

    Replace on schedule

The manual recommends changing needles every 6–8 hours of actual stitching. A fresh needle can prevent a worn point from being mistaken for the wrong size.
