- 1
Needle system
No needle system code printed (p. 14). Buy this system; a familiar size number alone does not make a needle fit.
- 2
Size by fabric
Light weight (Crepe de Chine, Voile, Lawn, Organdy, Georgette, Tricot) → 9 or 11; Medium weight (Linens, Cotton, Pique, Serge, Double Knits, Percale) → 11 or 14; Heavy weight (Denim, Tweed, Gabardine, Coating, Drapery and Upholstery Fabric) → 14 or 16; Stretch, very fine fabrics and synthetics → BLUE TIPPED needle (p. 14).
- 3
Fitting the needle
Insert the new needle into the needle clamp with the flat side away from you; push it up as far as it will go and tighten the clamp screw. (p. 13).
- 4
Also in the manual
Blue tipped needle effectively prevents skipped stitches (stretch, very fine fabrics, synthetics).
- 5
Also in the manual
Needle threader can be used with a #11 to #16 needle; thread size 50 to 90.
